The Swiss IT job market shows very contrasting regional signals in 2026.
The unemployment rate in IT professions has seen a moderate but continuous increase in the first half of 2026. The Léman region is by far the most affected, reaching 6.54% unemployment, well ahead of the next regions, north-west Switzerland (3.95%) and Zurich (3.91%), a special case according to ICTjournal, which specifies that no other major region exceeds the 4% threshold. Those aged 50-64 show a higher unemployment rate than those aged 25-49 in all regions except the Mittelland area, with the Léman region concentrating the largest gap between the two age groups: 7.57% for 50-64 years and 6.35% for 25-49 years.
