A report by the International Monetary Fund published ahead of the World Economic Forum in Davos points to a structural risk for the middle classes in the face of artificial intelligence.
According to the report, AI could accelerate wage inequality, with a particularly negative effect on the middle classes, while employees who already have high incomes could see their salaries increase by more than the productivity gains that AI would enable them to achieve.
For middle-class professionals, this signal reinforces the urgency of developing skills that are difficult to automate or directly related to managing AI tools, rather than merely executing tasks with them.
