According to figures published on Monday by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, Switzerland’s average unemployment rate reached 3.0% in August 2026, while the youth rate stood at 3.4%, partly due to the seasonal effect of the end of school and training programs. But the most concerning development lies elsewhere: the number of 15- to 24-year-olds looking for work continues to rise, yet only a minority are registered with a regional placement office.
For young graduates, this means less structured support at the critical moment of entering the labor market. For recruiters and schools, it is a signal not to ignore regarding the information channels that need to be strengthened.
